Will transfected plasmids induce cytokine production?

Hi there,

I am doing a plasmid-based shRNA knockdown experiment. I transfected plasmids and found some cytokines, such as IL6, were induced (detected via qPCR and ELISA).

That seems to be an immune reaction to me. Does anyone encounter a similar problem? Why does that happen? It would be great if you can throw some solutions.  :)
