Chromatography column packing

What type of media is used to Pack the column. I have DEAE or Mono-Q column.

do you want to pack a column or are you trying to identify the packing?

Thanks for the link. Today I have gone through some of tips there. I am trying to Pack the column. I find it its good to make slurry in the washing buffer. But I find people are also using the distelled water for packing. This is little strange for me.
