fixation in PFA diluted with water

Hi,

I would like to ask if 16% PFA was diluted in water instead of PBS and used for fixation,what would happen to the cells?

They would be quite unhappy - this would cause an increase in osmotic pressure on the cells, causing them to take up water and probably burst.
