Hi,

I am curious why the threshold for 'differential change' in 2D gels experiments always select 1.5 or 2 fold change in addition to statistical difference. Specifically,

(1)Why were changes limited to either 1.5 fold/2-fold or greater?


(2)Could there not be a highly significant change of a smaller magnitude? How would you justify spots in this situation?
