Hi.

I want to prepare a stock solution of proteinase K. Since my powder is not DNAse-free, I want to inactivate any contaminating DNAse without affecting proteinase K. How can I do this?

proteinase k is fully active in 0.5% sds.

And it is active at high concentrations of EDTA.  Adding EDTA will chelate the Mg++ ions, a necessary co-factor to DNAse.
