I am looking for suggestions on how to disrupt or remove the extracellular matrix of marine dinoflagellate cells without lysing or killing them. Are there general enzymes available that would digest mixed poly & oligosaccharides? I have also considered trying to shear off the glycocalyx by gentle agitation with glass beads.
Also, I would like to be able to visualize the matrix if possible, in order to determine if disruption was successful.
Any help would be wonderful!
Thank you in advance -
