I'm looking for a RTPCR machine that'll enable me to look for hybridization between short 9-20 base oligonucleotides and several thousand base target DNAs (e.g. ssLambda).

The goal is to find the temperature where you get a good amount of perfect match hybridization without many false positives (that you'd get by lowering the temperature too much). And also assay for the effects of different salt concentrations ++ And the idea is to use SybrI to do this, lowering the temperature gradually and looking for increased emission.

Do you know any "cheap" RTPCR that'd be suitable for this? Would an ABI7700 be adequate?
