Hello,
It seems as though we are always repairing our Thermo-Forma incubators from Fisher.
We would like to replace them with a better product.
Does anyone have a recommendation for CO2 incubators?
How about the New Brunswick, Binder, Sanyo incubators?
Does anyone know what is typically used in industry?
Everyone at my university seems to use the Thermo Forma Series,
but I am not sure why people choose them.

I've used Sanyo quite a bit, they are OK, though a bit of a pain to clean as they have so many bits for holding the shelving.  Also lots of lights and different options such as self-cleaning, UV, RH pan sensors, door sensors etc.

Dear Rosie,


We use RS Biotech (New Brunswick) and Binder in our Institute. Both have high temperature cleaning cycles, 121 and 180oC respectively. More importantly both are FANLESS. Incubators are difficult to keep clean and fans only distribute contamination more effectively.
The RS display is head and shoulders better than the Binder and the effective size is larger for the same footprint i.e RS is 170 Litres and the Binder 150 Litres.
Another consideration is the level of service you get from the companies once you have purchased the incubator. Again RS and Binder are excellent where this is concerned.

Alot of manufacturers claim that their incubators have "special properties". One example is the Sanyo range which have stainless steel impregnated with copper. The copper is used as a "natural germicidal" but if this was the case why now introduce UV in the incubator if copper is effective.
