I'am working with an agent belonging to terpenoid family compounds. Agents belonging to this family have been shown to interact with thiol groups of macromolecules or cysteine residues of proteins. I would like to explore the interaction of the agent I'am working with, with a particular protein rich in cysteine residues by MALDI-TOF. What I would like to know is that for looking at such interaction would commercially available full length recombinant protein (His Tag or GST tag) serve the purpose. I dont have much exprerience with MALDI-TOF and would be submiting my samples to the core facility for analysis , but before I proceed I want to make sure if commercially available full length recombinant protein (His Tag or GST tag) would serve the purpose. Any input is greatly appreciated.
