Using AD in yeast two-hybrid

Hi, I wonder why we cannot use AD(activating domain) of my gene of interest in yeast two-hybrid screening to find protein-protein interaction.
I can guess that AD of my protein would automatically activate transcription of reporter gene showing false negative result.
Am I right?
