I am looking for general guidelines for running a gel, specifically an acrylimide gel. I just cracked my plates on a 15% gel that was 1mm thick because I ran it too high. What are the limits of voltage, milliamps, and watts for gels based on % and thickness?

It depends more on the buffer - are you doing DNA or protein on acrylamide gels?

Hola, I think that you refers to protein gels, of 10x7 cm aprox. Here we run fixing 130-150v the amperage falls during the run from+/- 50mA at the begining (1,5 mm). the run takes about 1 h withouth significative heating.
