I ran a western overnight. Checked it after the first 30 and 60 min and it was fine so I then when home. When I got in the next day, the overcurrent alarm was going off and my membrane  looks a little tan. What happened and is it salvageable? Did I fry the membrane? This is pretty precious sample.

you probably fried the membrane. you may still be able to use it.

doesn't your power supply have automatic crossover? or, did you set voltage (or power) to maximum?
