Try LB media and as E.Coli is fastest growing bacteria then provide the media after a particular interval this will increase the amount of bacteria as well as the OD.

Hi
LB Medium or L-Broth typically contain 10 g of tryptone and 5 g of yeast extract per liter, and can vary in salt concentration from 0.5 g to 10 g per liter. This could be the best media choice for growing E.Coli.

I grow my E. coli on tryptic soy agar slants, typically prepared such that they are 15-25 degrees slanted. Streak-spreading E. coli on the surface of the slant typically yields 10^10 cfu/ml consistently after 18-24 hours incubation at 30-35 degree celcius.

there is a lot of medium to grow E.coli but SOB or LB medium are good.

SOB is the rule of thumb for me and we do many anerobes.

magnesium (2 mM) in media makes bacteria grow to higher densities
