I have just begun to work with stable cell-wall-deficient bacteria (L-forms).  The Acridine Orange staining procedure that I have obtained from _ Specific Procedures and Requirements for the Isolation, Growth and Maintenance of the L-Phase of some Microbial Groups _ is fixed with Bouin's fixative.  I was wondering if any other fixative exists (that would be appropriate for this work) that does not contain Picric Acid.
