I am trying to do some electrokinetic experiments which require DNA to be in distilled water with no buffer present.  My question is what configuration dsDNA is in at pH 5.6 (which is the pH of distilled water when equilibrated with CO2 in the air) and whether ssDNA can still hybridise at this pH?  I've tried to find something in the literature but can't so any ideas/suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks
