what are classical inducers of apoptosis (e.g. staurosporine)?

hopefully get a few examples! donīt know which to purchase!!

To select a positive control you might need to let us know what your test samples are.

Some apoptosis inducers will induce the "death-receptor" pathway such as TRAIL or Fas ligand and some will induce the "mitochondrial" pathway such as etoposide, staurosporine etc.  You can also induce apoptosis in some cell lines by UV irradiation or serum starvation.

You might need to think about which pathway your test samples might induce and select an appropriate positive control that works in a similar way.

thanks than4 for this recommendation. in the case of FACS (annexin V) staining it does no matter i think?
maybe it does matter, if i want to check for different activated caspases....eg -3 or -8!

we also use vinblastine
