w/v: take 5 gm phenol crystals and add water to 100 ml.

Do I melt phenol first?
Does it really mix? The only phenol I have ever prepare is for DNA extraction. And it becames a two-phase solution. That is why my doubts.

the phenol will dissolve in the water (1gm/15ml water)
