Hi everybody,
I'm a newbie in this Molecular Biology as well as our forum, i mean this forum. I study about this subject "DNA damgade and repair" and my group need my performance   . I need to explain 2 problems to them, they seem to be a general topic but i can not find much information about them. Could anyone help me some idea to answer those questions ? or show me some site could travel to find more information ?

  1: the structural characteristics that make the translesion DNA synthesis (TDS) polymerases move "trans-lesion"
  2: The in vivo and in vitro assays to study the functions of stress response factors for DNA damage
  3: To make example   , I need 5 diseases that are caused by defects in homologous recombination, if you could plz state the genetic abnormalities and clinical manisfestations of each.

This sounds a lot like homework.

A good text book will tell you the answers... or you can have a go at answering them your self, and we will help clarify points you may have issues with.

  Thanx for your suggestion, but i can't find any book or some details in this field as i'm a newbie  
  Just give me some thing more specific i hope i could find it in internet

Hi all,

A different question for DNA damage;

I am looking for a marker (for immunostaining of mouse fibroblasts) of DNA damage in proliferative cells. I used gamma H2AX in confluent cells which was fine, but H2AX detects double strand DNA in both cell cycle and DNA repair. So it is not very useful for detecting ONLY DNA repair in cycling cells.

Does anyone recommend any?

How about TUNEL staining? I think the problem will be that there is essentially no difference between replicating DNA and DNA repair...
