Dear people,

i've constructed an vector with an arabinose inducible promoter. At the moment i have no suitable E. coli strain available that does not utilize arabinose ...so my inducer will be metabolized by the cell (normally araD negative strains like Top10 are used). Does anyone knows how the ara-promoter will behave in an arabinose-degrading host strain? Is it useless to try my experiments in "normal" strains or should i use exclusively these Top10s?

What is your experience?

Many thanks in advance!

Best regards,
p
