I am trying to express protein that has 33 cysteins out of total of 117 amino acids. this protein binds to cadmium. I am expereincing problems in expressing it. Its giving weak expression and sometimes none. I was wondering if it is being oxidized while expressing and thus removed by the proteolytic enzymes. kindly tell me ways to tackle the problems.

Can you give more details?  What protocol are you using for expression, detection, purification... etc?
