What whatmann filter papers are used for what kind of aplications? any ideas folks?
eg what shud be used for western blotting? what shud be used to filter coomassie dye?
any specific reasons for using different kinds of whatmann fopr different applications?

I use Whatman's #1 for filtering solutions and for sending plasmid DNA.  Glass fibre (GF series) can be used for DNA extraction. NA-45 paper can be used for gel extraction of DNA.

I use 3mmChr chromatograpy paper for westerns.  It is cheap and comes in big sheets.
