In real life, observed values often differ from expected values, like the expected quality of a finished product might differ from the observed quality or expected sales figures differ from the observed sales figures. Does Chi Square tests the same? Can this be taught in an easier manner?
All Suggestions are welcome..!

At the risk of over simplification think of it like this “chi square test does for categorical (obligatory non-negative) data what the t-test does for numeric (normal distribution) data”.
