cell lysis for metabolite quantification

Hi,
I have a bunch of monocyte cells and I want to lyse them so that I can determine the quantity of specific metabolites using GC/MS. I have them in 100ul PBS. I was wondering what the best protocols are either sonicating or using lysis buffer..?
