I need to isolate RNA from blood clot that have been stored for a year. Blood clots was prepared by placing them at room temperature 30 minutes, centrifuge, remove serum and flash frozen at -80.
Since it is a blood clot, I am going to treat them as tissue.

Rna KIT says that I have to add TRIZOL to the frozen sample.
My query's are

How to take the frozen blood from the vacutainer to weigh them?

NOTE:
I never done RNA isolation before
