I am trying to figure out whether to keep some cells in a static incubator or, in the alternative, to place a cell culture bag on your basic rocking platform with a variable pitch and cycle. The manufacturers like GE tout their "Wave" bioreactor as having less shear than a traditional vessel with a paddle mixer (and I believe that) but they never say exactly how much less.
Does anybody know how to estimate the shear force exerted depending on the size of the vessel, volume of the suspension, angle of the pitch, cycles per minute, etc.?
Anyone? Anyone? Buehler?
How to measure shear forces
