Why only rRNA can be seen when stained with EB in agarose when total RNA is loaded?

My understanding is if you can see your two ribosomal RNA bands then your other RNA is present and undegraded. (Good)!!!It is just that it is present in relatively low quantity and difuse; a broard smear of fragments of differing molecular weights.
