Hi All,

I am looking for serum substitutes for FBS to grow 293-T cells. I found some that are for FCS, but a commercial one for FBS..not found yet! ohmy.gif !

Does anyone know or can suggest which company has serum substitutes for FBS.

Thanks a bunch.

Warm Regards,

Sonia

Invitrogen is starting to produce serum free culture systems, you could try them.

Fetal calf serum (FCS) and fetal bovine serum (FBS) are different names for the same product! It is obtained by cardiac-puncture of bovine fetuses (cow fetus=unborn calf) following slaughter of the cow.
Not a very nice product, but there you are.

Hi Sonia,

If you want to go away from FBS you can try Primatone extract which for certain cells works good (certain hybridoma lines)
