Hi! Can someone tell me the best way to clean the tip of the sonicator between lysate samples? I want to make absolutely sure that I don't have any protein carryover, but I don't want to do anything to the sonicator that might compromise my samples. Any advice would be appreciated! :)

What about disposable probe covers? They make them for thermometers, but maybe they will work for sonicators.

Envennom,

wiping with ethanol or sonication of ethanol in a beaker is an effective way.

Alternatively, you could sonicate your samples in a sample vial, such as an Eppendorf 1.5mL. Hielscher offers a product called VialTweeter for this. This allows for the sonication of up to eight samples at a time. No wetted probe --> no cross-contamination, no cleaning/rinsing/wiping.

Save time and focus on your research instead of performing tedious cleaning tasks :P

Would cleaning with autoclaved water be sufficient to avoid cross contamination?
