#178390 Seeking a post-doctoral position in Inlfuenza/microRNA filed

Posted by Mohamed 1984 on 10 July 2016 - 04:09 PM in Life as a PhD Student and Postdoc

Dear All,

I am a freshly graduated PhD student with a DAAD grant in Germany. I am highly interested in continuing my research in Influenza A virus virology and or miRNA biology/influenza relationship. If this is possible, would any one of you recommend a place /website/group leader to contact ?

Best regards

 Dr. M. Samir

#177399 Problem with the color label in "R" correlation matrix

Posted by Mohamed 1984 on 18 December 2015 - 05:45 PM in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics

My problem seems simple but really baffled me a lot.

I am using "R" to create a correlation matrix with the circle as a methode to visualize the matrix. I observed that the correlation between identical set of number is giving me value of 1 which is OK, but the color code according to the scale (which should be blue in this case) gave me red color which is missleading to any visualizer that this is a very loww correlation, although it is not.

Could any of you help me ?

Thanks

#176901 We would like to track and detect the replication or S. aureus in human macropha

Posted by Mohamed 1984 on 12 October 2015 - 05:39 AM in Microbiology

Hi All,

We would like to track and detect the replication or S. aureus in human macrophage. So, the question is which S. aureus genes can be used in the RT-qPCR to relativily quantify this bacteria.

Also, we wonder if we need to isolate the total RNA or the DNA to do this ؟

#176883 Gene expression heat map ?

Posted by Mohamed 1984 on 08 October 2015 - 07:31 AM in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics

Dear Al,

I have a list of miRNAs with their log2 FC and P values, and want to create a classic heat map for better visualization. Could zou provide me with a simple tool or software, other than R, to do this ?

I also wonder if any one of you know if cytoscape package contains such a program ?

Thanks

#176813 Question regarding small nucleolar RNAs

Posted by Mohamed 1984 on 29 September 2015 - 07:37 AM in siRNA, microRNA and RNAi

Hi All,

I got many SNORNAs that have variable expression level in infected tissues compared to the uninfected ones. Could any one advice on how to get their functional relevance ? Is there is any database to annotate their target small RNAs ?

Thanks

Could you provide a graphical online tool or software

#176493 Question regarding protein conservation among similar genes

Posted by Mohamed 1984 on 24 August 2015 - 12:07 AM in Protein and Proteomics

Dear All,

I have protein sequence of one gene and I would like to see how close and far is it from similar protein of the same genes but diffectent virus. I did phylogenetic analysis on the protein level, but I need an online tool or software that enable more facination or giving more detailed picture than simple alignment.

Thanks
