such a shame...

Posted by toejam, 27 August 2010 · 959 views

as said before, I'd try to do a bit more blogging, and so this is my second post here... the title refers to the situation in my home country, Mexico, which, if you read regularly the newspaper, you might have read on the headlines lately.

It's been almost two years I have been away from it, and it feels like it has changed enormously since then. I can't imagine being on the street and then have a car exploding next to me, or people shooting their AK-47's on the street and be involved in the middle of drugdealers fights...

I see no way out of this situation, when you realise the amounts of money involved in drugdealing you get a rough idea of why this problem can't be solved, especially in a corrupted system where money can buy pretty much anything, politicians, cops, killers... you name it, you got it.

It's a shame because it is (was?) such a nice country. It generates a lot of feelings to know that all of that is going on at the moment, and i don't see how it can get better before it gets a lot worse. There are more dead people because of this than in other countries that are on war. I know there must be good people trying to make a difference, not that it matters anyway because as soon as they become noticed they would be shot to death.

The 200th anniversary of the independence and 100 years of the revolution are coming soon, and I'm just wondering, every 100 years something has happened, so why should it be different this year?

It's all going to hell....
