here we go with the blogging again, I remember I used to have my blog in the old version of the Bioforum, never really got into it, however, there are always (ok, not always) second chances to do things, and if possible, do them right.
recently a member of staff, who for some reason is now the "student representative" (chosen by who knows) asked me for a favour, a strange favour if I may say. apparently, he's trying to get more international students into the department, well you know, that's where you can get good money, the tuition fees for international students are exorbitant! my personal case, as an international student, my sponsor has to pay £18,200 a year for my fees, whereas a local student pays around £4,000. no wonder this guy wants more international students coming to the department....
anyway, the favour he asked me for was to describe in a few words the experience I've had here so far, he didn't specify in which way, so I've given it a thought and came up with these phrases, that I'm not sure whether I should send them to him or not, my first guess is that it would be politically incorrect... for your joy and pleasure, some of these phrases that came to my head:
1) despite how strange people look in the department, they are generally very nice...
2) with the huge Mexican community around, you will never feel homesick in this city
3) if you decide to come to England, don't forget your "salsa valentina" for the fish and chips!
I guess I have a misconception about British humour...
