Gelatin for PCR - (Sep/26/2005 )

Hi!

I need gelatin for my PCR, but I could not find any for molecular biology. Where to buy and which one? Help me!

PCR buffers used to contain gelatin as a bulking agent to concentrate protein, but it has gradually been left out because it interferes with DNA sequencing gels. Gelatin may be used as a stabilizer at 0.001% (w/v). Fish gelatin is generally used to avoid potential mammalian DNA contaminants. Check your Sigma catalog.

dear noora,
please do let me also know if u come across something specifically regarding a mol bio grade gelatin. so far i am planning to use routine gelatin after double autoclaving. have u tried it ? and if so then waht were the results?
