checking primer - checking primer (Jun/15/2005 )
Hey all
Is it possible to check if my primers are correct without performing PCR itself?
Thanks

Why do you mean by "correct" and what exactly do you want to check? There are so many things to check for a pair of primers such as whether they align to the right target, whether there is inter-primer and self complementation, Tm value, etc...

I guess you can find out several software to access the paramters of your primers, however, I think, we can not say anything regarding the successful of the PCR without a run.

You can check your PCR probes "in silico" here:

I think U can test them for the TARGET sequence at UCSCs InsilicoPCR..whcih will tell you what sequence U will get with this primers

I have designed primers for PCR and I wanted to check that the primers would give a successful reaction. Is there a way of doing this without doing PCR in the lab?
