FREE Waterless Bath Beads (Bath Armor) - Enough to replace one heat block in your dry bath. (Oct/23/2008 )
Lab Armor is giving away free samples of the Bath Armor waterless bath media. The sample is enough to replace a heat block in a dry bath. Pretty cool because it eliminates the need for constantly switching out blocks to fit all of the different size tubes and vessels that are out there.
If you like it in your dry bath, you will love it in your water bath. It eliminates the need for bottle neck weights, racks, floaties, etc. and helps prevent spills, reduces maintenance, and prolongs the life of the bath.
Most importantly, it eliminates a major source of contamination in the lab. Chemical and biological contaminants from the water bath often unknowingly contaminate experiments leading to distorted data and reduced reproducibility. While it is an expensive problem when contamination is identified and work must be repeated, it is even worse when assumptions are unknowingly made based on distorted data.
Bath Armor can pay for itself by eliminating one contamination event, and peace of mind in safeguarding your work is priceless.

It sounds great. How much does it cost to fill a typical water bath like the one shown in the video? Do the beads need periodic cleaning too, how?
For typical applications, the water bath beads shouldn't need to be cleaned unless you spill something in them. Spills happen less frequently with Bath Armor because it offers a much sturdier platform to incubate your samples. If needed, you can scoop out the affected beads, wash with dish detergent and water and allow to dry before returning to the bath. You can use a mesh strainer or a mesh bag(s) like a nylon sports bag you would find in a sports or camping store to help wash and dry. The beads can also be sterilized with non-oxidizing disinfectant if desired. We have one available online.
The cost to fill a bath depends on the volume of course. We recommend filling to 75%-80% of the capacity of the bath. 4L is $360 for filling a 5L-6L bath. 8L is $480 for a 10L-12L bath. We want to encourage filling as many baths as possible in each lab, so there are greater discounts in the cost per liter at higher volumes.
Thanks for the great questions.
