EtBr in gel when run mRNA? - (Oct/07/2004 )

should i add EtBr in the gel solution, when i run the mRNA?

thanks!

Hi,

it depends on your RNA Loading buffer. Normally you have in this buffer Etbr. Then you have to add only this buffer to your samples and load it on the gel.
Or you can stain your gel after electrophoresis with Etbr, when your RNA LB has no Etbr inside.

Hi

Under electrophoresis EtBr will migrate in the opposite direction to the RNA (or DNA for that matter) which can lead to it being difficult to see your RNA, though usually if the EtBr is in the loading buffer there is no problem. If you have no result from this, try staining the gel afterwards.
