Wiggly 5 kDa band Western blot - (Jun/12/2008 )

Hello. My 25 kDa pentameric band is nice and even however the reduced 5 kDa monomer is wiggly (looks like seagulls). I have run this on a 4-12% gradient bis-tris gel. Does anyone know why the 5 kDa band is wiggly?

the band is moving with the buffer front.

for a 5kDa peptide you should be using a tricine gel.
