protein extraction from blood sample - (Dec/18/2006 )

Hi all,
I have been looking for a reliable protocol for the axtracition of total protein from red blood cells also I would like to extracto DNA from the WBC of the same sample,,, i.e. I need a protocol for the extraction of DNA and protein from one blood sample ( I have my sample or RBCs and WBCs frozen at -80)????
can anybody help me here????

If you have separated your WBC and RBC from the plasma, you should be able to thaw and extract total DNA or protein, depending on what you're after. If you want both from the same cells, try Trizol, or one of its variants. Just make sure you have your protease inhibitors in the extraction matrix.

Thank you swanny,, I thought about that also but I was not sure about it since I did not try it my self..... do you recomend special one you tried yourself??
