I want to use my enzyme at 32 ug/ml concentration. It's in powder form and the bottle says that my enzyme is .2 mg/1 mg of solid. If I prepare a 1 mg/ml solution of the powder, how can I prepare my enzyme at my desired concentration. I have my own computation and my colleague has a different one. We've got to settle this. Thanks

does the bottle specify what the other solids are? usually they are buffer salts, but sometimes they are proteins as well.

if you prepare the solution to 1mg/ml total solids then your enzyme will be 200ug/ml. take 16ul of this and add 84ul buffer or water or whatever you want and you will have 32ug/ml enzyme.

if you prepare the stock to 1mg/ml enzyme then take 32ul and add 968ul buffer or etc. and you will have 32ug/ml enzyme.

Thanks, that was fast. The bottle actually contains liver extract so I guess it has all kinds of stuff in there. I have a roundabout way of computing but you just confirmed that I got it right.
P.S. Is that really your photo or a good facsimile of you?

"Taxi"? Wasn't that film aeons ago? Is Christopher Lloyd still alive (I love Frasier though)? You probably have a more creative reason for choosing this photo. Anyway, just teasing... Thanks again.

'taxi' was a tv show in the early 80's (maybe even late 70's, i forget). christopher lloyd played doctor brown in the 'back to the future' movies and can now be seen on the tv show 'stacked'.

you're welcome.

wow, Casandra, you just 'dated' me...I feel very old ohmy.gif

I used to watch Taxi all the time; I grew up on that show

My mistake, I was actually thinking of "Taxi Driver". No wonder I couldn't recall Christopher Lloyd being in that movie. Lloyd is actually the creative force behind the "really good" Frasier episodes. But now I do remember Taxi, the tv series. Thanks for the info.
