ethidium bromide - handling with ethidium bromide (Nov/04/2005 )

Pages: Previous 1 2

Nobody should ever claim that scientists aren't creative cool.gif . I just found Kersten's kitchen tool
in our kitchen, but frankly I don't dare to get it from my flat-sharing community... they would like
me doing 'molecular cooking' with our kitchen equipment.
Anyway, I see that I've lots of possibilities.

I carry it in my gel rig and handle it with gloves for imaging.

I always put EtBr in the gel instead of soaking. It saves EtBr.

thanks ... scanning my kitchen I also found a very good homogeniser ... a mixer wink.gif a kitchenstore seems a good place to get things to improve a biological lab biggrin.gif

Oh yes!! I also use kitchen stuff in my lab!
I have a nice glove in the shape of a pig, I use it to take boilig gel out of the microwave (and everybody in the lab smiles when I go around in the lab with it!!!) biggrin.gif

OH yeah, there are uses for forks, knives, and spoons, saran wrap, aluminum foil, tupperware, cups and glasses, empty jugs, mortar and pestle, blender, timer, all kinds of kitchen stuff

when I have to explain what I do to family and friends who don't know anything about science, I make lots of cooking analogies...there are all sorts of overlaps

I also makes many cooking analogies, I always say "making experiments is like cooking, you have to follow a recipie, but you you should also use your fantasy!" rolleyes.gif

Is nice to see this is the same for othres! wub.gif

Bye bye
