Can I use an EtBr stained PAGE gel for northern blot? - (Apr/03/2014 )

I have a stained PAGE gel that has RNA inside. I want to run northern with it. Can I?.will EtBr inhibit transfer or binding? besides, EtBr might contaminate everywhere.

In western blot we always transfer proteins from sds-page gel to membrane first before staining. how about northern?

Should be fine - the EtBr shouldn't impede the migration as far as I know.
