virus with human gene to mouse cell - Does it work? (Jan/13/2011 )

this might be stupid question, but
if I make virus carrying human gene-a and use this virus to transduce mouse cell, does it work?
lets say if this gene-a from both human and mouse has high homology in thier sequences.
